The DDUH is seeking to recruit a Specialist Endodontist to join our Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology Team. This is a Part-Time / Specified Purpose Contract Position, two days (Wednesday and Friday) per week, based in the Dublin Dental University Hospital (DDUH) from October 2026 to September 2031. The role reports to the Head of Division of Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology and Prof Hal Duncan, Consultant in Endodontics, with an upward reporting line to the Clinical Director and Dean, School of Dental Science.
Role Summary:
To provide complex specialist-level treatment (secondary/tertiary) to patients attending the DDUH
Specific tasks of role:
The post holder will support Endodontic consultant assessment clinics by:
Assessment of Endodontic primary and secondary referral patients
Providing specialist Endodontic services to patients of a surgical and non-surgical nature.
Performing administration related to these clinics (letters, appointment organisation, letter triage)
Advising junior colleagues and students
Supervising NCHD endodontic clinics
Ensuring that teaching and learning are fully integrated into the clinical experience from the NCHD or student perspective.
Providing regular and appropriate feedback for NCHD or students and endeavouring to provide the necessary support when required.
Participate in clinical audits.
Carry out such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Division, Clinical Director, Dean, or other designated office.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all Policies and Procedures within the Hospital.

Professional Experience, Qualifications:
Each candidate must:
Hold a degree in dental science
Have a postgraduate qualification (FFD or Equivalent) in Endodontics (ideally 3 year full-time equivalent)
Have a track record of engagement in research
Have teaching experience in the delivery of Endodontic education at an undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
Be registered with the Dental Council of Ireland
Be fully competent in MS Office, in particular Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and other relevant packages.
Have gained valuable experience in an Endodontics setting
Have obtained a higher degree and/or professional qualification
Note: Post holders must maintain annual registration with the Dental Council of Ireland.

Be able to identify potential difficulties and formulate solutions.
Be personally motivated with the ability to empower and motivate others.
Demonstrable adaptability to rapid changes taking place in the Hospital, educational and health services in general.
Demonstrate a patient and student focused approach.
Have proven organisational and administrative skills.
